Raquel joined Emond Harnden in 2004 after her call to the Bar and her term as an articling student with the firm. Raquel advises employers at both the Ontario and Federal jurisdictions in all areas of employment and labour law. She has built an extensive practice in both jurisdictions in the areas of privacy law, human rights, disability management and pay equity.
The types of service Raquel provides include training, opinions, organization-wide audits, policy writing and representation at human rights mediation and Tribunal hearings. She also has experience in analysing Ontario’s FIPPA, MFIPPA, PHIPA, and the federal privacy and freedom of information acts.
Before embarking on her legal career, Raquel worked for The War Amputations of Canada for seven years and developed an expertise in many areas of charity and not-for-profit management. During that time, Raquel became a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (“CSAE”) and earned her Certified Association Executive (“CAE”) designation through its Association Management Education Program.
As a lawyer, Raquel is a business member of the CSAE. Raquel is also a member of the Ottawa Human Resources Professional Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.
