Jacques A. Emond

Jacques Emond is a co-founding partner of Emond Harnden. His labour and employment law practice encompasses representing both public and private sector employers before an array of administrative tribunals and all levels of courts concerning a wide variety of workplace issues. He has considerable depth of experience in the areas of public/private partnerships, constitutional and administrative tribunals, negotiations/mediation of public and private sector collective agreements as well as litigation/mediation of wrongful dismissal.

At the national level, he has been consistently designated as the “most frequently recommended leading practitioner in labour relations and employment law” in peer surveys conducted by LEXPERT and was the Advocates’ Society 2014 Ottawa Honouree. Jacques and Lynn Harnden were awarded the Carleton Medal by the County of Carleton Law Association in 2017 for their leadership and mentoring in the law community.

He is an effective and engaging presenter who is regularly invited to speak on various topics in all areas of labour and employment law.

Jake recently completed the Directors Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors, bringing a unique mix of legal and governance expertise to his clients.

An avid golfer, Jake plays a very active role in the Ottawa community. He is former President of the Youth Services Bureau and former Chair of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation Board. He currently sits as member of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Board.

He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Institute of Conflict Resolution. He is also an elected Fellow of the American College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
