For Managers, Human Resources and Labour Relations professionals, keeping on top of the important arbitration decisions that affect your unionized workplace is a critical task.

Our panel of experienced labour lawyers will present the merits and implications of some of this year’s key arbitration decisions from management and from union perspectives, in the unique format of a mock grievance arbitration.

Join us as our lawyers litigate matters based on significant recent decisions of interest to those managing in a unionized environment.  Participants will be provided with an understanding of the current state of the law, as well as practical implications for best practices in their workplace.

Specific topics will include:

  • How to properly investigate complaints of workplace violence and harassment so that the employer doesn’t become part of the problem and end up paying increased damages
  • Best practices for properly managing an individual with performance issues who is also in an accommodated position
  • In situations involving breach of trust and abuse of sick leave and/or long term disability, what is the appropriate level of discipline?
  • In a time where sharing information on Facebook, blogs and social media is the norm, can an employer actually rely on and enforce a confidentiality clause in a settlement agreement?
